CGIL (Italian General Confederation of Labour) condems Saifura’s barbaric murder in NigeriaCGIL condemns the barbaric murder of 25-year old health worker Saifura Hussaini Ahmed Khorsa, by Boko Haram in Borno, Nigeria, and expresses its deepest condolences to her family, including her two children.Saifura’s killing and the continuous attack in Nigeria against workers, especially women, cannot remain unpunished. CGIL calls on authorities to ensure that perpetrators are immediately brought to justice.Saifura was a registered midwife working for the International Committtee of Red Cross (ICRC). Boko Haram cowardly abducted her together with her colleagues Hauwa Mohammed Liman, also from ICRC, and Alice Loksha from UNICEF, last March, during an attack in north-east Nigeria. CGIL urges the competent authorities for their immediate active commitment to make release the other two workers and protect Nigerian workers by insurgent and terroristic groups.CGIL stands in solidarity with Nigeria Labour Congress leadership and members, the Nigerian workers, families and communities which face severe and daily challenges, often targeting women. The international community should make over its role and action in order to set a concrete roadmap for peace, freedom and democracy in the region.Susanna CamussoGeneral Secretary
